Really worth reading if you're interested in getting your children vaccinated but want to know everything about it! I'm a bit of an info junkie, I think it's my way of dealing with things I'm anxious about. This gave me all the info I needed to make a well informed decision on whether I'll get my children vaccinated or not.
Really basic information with lots of patronizing platitudes and 0 citations. If you want someone to tell you that studies have shown that aluminium and mercury are safe without referencing any actual studies this book is for you. Imho, this book is an exercise in regurgitated groupthink. You might as well join a provaccine facebook group because you won't learn anything here that you don't find there.
Im not for or against vaccines. What i am an advocate for is correct information. Right away in the preface i detected a biased opinion for vaccines, making this book not the information im interested in.
Helpful information for new parents to read before getting their baby vaccinated. Easy to understand for anyone. Will continue to read for upcoming vaccinations.
I like it, but I should not have to say so many words to say a simple one line review.
The good thing about his obvious pro-vaccine bias is you are armed with the knowledge that he is likely going to err or on the side of leaving out negative information about vaccines. The first few chapters seemed to be factual enough and I was pleased. Unfortunately that changed in the dtap section. He lists the side effects of dtap as innocuous things like soreness at the site. However, under the who shouldn't get the vaccine, he lists "those who had a brain or nervous system disease from the first dtap shot". Now, why is the fact that you can get a brain or nervous system disease from the vaccine NOT listed as a side effect or risk?? Because, he has serious bias. So, this is just another book that leaves out facts in order to meet the author's desire to bring you to their side...no matter how they have to do it. I'm trying to find a good book to help me learn about vaccination safety for my child. This book is not it.
