After a disappointing season in London, Sophie Davenport returns home without a marriage proposal. No sooner does she settle back into her country life than she learns her uncle has arranged for her to marry the local vicar’s son, a respectable and utterly forgettable man. He’s returning home immediately after the Christmas holiday and they will wed. She sets about making this last Christmas with just she and her mother memorable.
Jeremy Wyatt hatches a plan to help his friend Thomas and his love, Emma, escape to Gretna Green and marry before her father comes after them. What he’s really doing is avoiding heading to his parents’ home, where he is the son who is always making the wrong choices. But their carriage becomes hopelessly mired in the mud from the incessant rains so Jeremy sets off to find shelter for them at the first house he comes to.
Sophie welcomes the wet and weary travelers, and her mother agrees to house them temporarily until they can free the carriage. Sophie forms a bond not only with Emma, but with Jeremy. However despite the sparks they ignite in each other, they have to maintain their separate paths.
But love and mistletoe have a way of upsetting even the best-laid plans.

A Sweet Christmas RomanceWho can resist romance at Christmas? In this sweet romance, Sophie Davenport believes she must surrender to the fate laid out by her uncle. But on a rainy December night, Jeremy Wyatt appears at her door in desperate need of shelter for himself and his friends. Sophie is immediately smitten and Jeremy is captivated. The cozy cottage in the December storm is the perfect setting for their attraction to grow. But when Jeremy abruptly leaves, Sophie resigns herself to the fate she has been handed. Will she have a happy Christmas? I love the playful, passionate relationship between Sophie and Jeremy. I also enjoyed Evelyn Davenport, Sophie’s scheming mother. A perfect Christmas romance.

A Regency Yuletide edition by Becky Lower Romance eBooks Reviews
Becky Lower is a new author for me and I really enjoyed her novella, A Regency Yuletide!
It's well written, refreshing, and so romantic with her two charming characters, Sophie and Jeremy! If you love short Christmas stories, then this novella will please you!
When Sophie's father died, she and her mother, Evelyn had to leave the estate where they lived as a family. Since they had no heir, the estate was now managed by a ruthless uncle who only wanted to get rid of them. Now both ladies are living in a small cottage on the estate. Sophie has to find a way to make their lives better, and either marry the vicar's son or wait for true love. Enters in their lives, Jeremy, a business partner with his best friend Thomas. Will Sophie be able to resist his charm? Is Jeremy ready to settle down and have a family? Will the spirit of Yuletide do it's magic? It's a romantic story of ''And they lived happily ever after''! I will surely watch her next books!

Uncaged Review A very charming regency with enough of a story to pull me right in and read from start to finish in one setting. Even though it’s novella length, it’s still a very nice addition to anyone’s holiday reading fare. Even though Jeremy is footloose and free, he hatches a plan to get his best friend Thomas and his lady, Emma spirited off to get married, as Emma’s father is trying to marry her off to an undesirable older man. After their carriage gets stuck in heavy ruts from rains, they find shelter in a cottage with a lady and her daughter Sophie. Jeremy is struck by the simple beauty and intelligence of Sophie, and with a meddling mother afoot, they get more alone time than is really proper.
The author did a wonderful job, drawing you into the story with enough description to set you inside the parlor, instead of looking through a window. The romance is quick, but it works. This is a nice feel good story perfect for the season and historical romance lovers. Reviewed by Cyrene
OMG, keep the nice holiday historical romances coming!! This one was no exception. Although the love between the main characters was too insta for my taste, I did not mind it. Surprisingly! It's because Jeremy and Sophie were realistically portrayed, each having their own doubts about this insta-love. I found the character of Jeremy to be really refreshing. He was not a rake, admittedly, but he did have thoughts like all other men of his age of that time. And the fact that he chose not to act upon them showed his true intentions toward Sophie. It was beautiful, all of it! Such a short novella, but it packs quite a punch (in my opinion at least)!
I have read all of Becky Lower's historical cotillion series which takes place in the United States. So I was very curious to see her take on a Regency story. This story was short and sweet and perfect for the holiday season.
Sophie wants nothing more than to live in the country away from society and enjoy her life, but her uncle has other plans in mind. He wants her to marry so that he does not have to support her or her mother anymore. His plan? Have her marry the vicar's son. At first Sophie agrees since she has no prospects to support her family. But then she meets Jeremy and realizes that there is more to life than settling for the ordinary.
Jeremy is happy for his best friend who has found his true love, but he doesn't understand how someone would change their life to be with someone, until he meets Sophie.
The story is about love and celebrating the holidays, which is a wonderful backdrop for this time of year. Recommended holiday reading!
I love Christmas stories and I love romances and Becky Lower has given us both in her new novella, A Regency Yuletide. Our heroine, Sophie Davenport, lives in a country cottage with her mother. They used to live in the estate but the death of the earl caused the title to pass to a distant cousin. His daughter and widow are now at the mercy of a stranger who wants to pass them off to anyone else. Since Sophie's one season in London did not result in a marriage offer, the new earl has decided that she should marry the vicar's son. Sophie hardly knows the young man but has agreed to this arrangement since he seems nice enough. Sophie has never been in love. But one rainy night a handsome stranger knocks at her door. Jeremy had been aiding and abetting his best friend in a mad dash to Gretna Green with his beloved. Unfortunately (or, as the case may be, fortunately), their carriage was hopelessly mired in the mud and the romantic adventure was stalled. The travelers are given shelter in the small cottage and lives are changed. This is a delightful romp of a story and one that I will surely read again as Christmas approaches. Because I do love a Christmas romance.
